I’m Sheyla Ortiz Pena, the new Camp Director of Future Leaders. Fun fact—I was the Assistant Director during our very first summer and have stayed closely involved ever since through my role as Assistant Director of Auxiliary Programs. I’m especially excited to be hands-on with the team this year, helping to craft what I know will be a joyful, memorable season for every camper!
I’m excited to join Fieldston Future Leaders as Assistant Director of Programs this summer. With 25 years of teaching experience, degrees from NYU and Pace, and past roles including director and STEM teacher at a Robotics camp in Barbados, I’m eager to support our instructors and build a fun, engaging camp experience. I love science, sports, and time with family—and I can’t wait for a joyful summer of learning!
I’m Giovanni Casiano, an educator with over ten years of camp experience and a background in teaching kindergarten through third grade. I currently teach third grade at Fieldston Lower and bring energy, creativity, and a love for working with children. Outside the classroom, I enjoy running, long walks with my dog, and fun fact—I’ve never had a cup of coffee!

My name is Mette and I am very pleased to be joining Fieldston Future Leaders this summer. While this will be my first experience with the camp, I have been a part of the Fieldston community since 2005, initially as a parent of two alumni and subsequently as an employee since 2008. During the school year, you can find me in the Fieldston Lower Library.
My name is René Palmer. I am the Health Director for Future Leaders Camp. I’ve been a registered nurse since 2016 and currently work at the Ethical Culture campus. I’m also a proud ECFS parent to two amazing daughters.
